Newton’s first law of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion at constant velocity unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
A lot of artists have utilized the lyrics “can’t stop, won’t stop” in their songs. “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” by Young Gunz, “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” by King Combs, feat. Kodak Black, “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” by Usher, and “I Must Be Dreaming” by The Maine, to name a few. Surprisingly, “Can’t Stop” by Red Hot Chili Peppers doesn’t make the list. But none of them—not even RHCP—have taught us this valuable lesson about objects in motion—until now.
The chorus to “Set In Motion” says the following:
Can’t stop, won’t stop
It’s set in motion
This heart is stuck
On the thrill of it
As Pam Beesly would say, “They’re the same picture." If for some reason I ever find myself teaching a high school physics class, I’ll just show them this song. Easy.
Newton was wise beyond his years when coming up with this law. Who would’ve thought that Isaac Newton’s EQ was just as high as his IQ?
