About Us

This blog began as a group text that my friends started a little over a year ago under the same name. The group text was started after years of being out of touch post high school. We all use it to share our music takes and tastes. Why my friend named the conversation Music Outlet Mall is beyond me. The actual name of the group chat Music Outlet 💉 MAUL🗡😵 which makes even less sense. It took about a year to realize that the MAUL was actually connected to the Music Outlet part of it. I honestly thought he named the conversation Music Outlet and then MAUL was some acronym I was just too uncool to know about. However, that was not the case.

I created this blog because I was bored at work after I went on a rant about how Train wrote a hit song by stealing the melody from the song Heart and Soul and how everyone just seemed to be okay with that. That rant led to this idea.

Rather than be stereotypical Millennials and start a podcast starring yours truly and my four closest friends from high school, I decided to go back a few years in time before podcasts were the tits and start a blog. That gives you a lot of insight of where I am in life: a state of perpetual existential crisis. It's not ideal, and I doubt anyone outside my group of friends will ever see this blog. Hell I doubt even they will see this blog. But in case you, some random ass stranger, do come across this, I am sincerely sorry. This will likely be the first and last post of the entire blog since my friends will probably refuse to post anything on here ever. They're too cool for that. 

In June 2021, I decided to pivot. Rather than just talk about music in general, I started to review local bands in my home of Salt Lake City, Utah as my way of staying in touch with the amazing local music scene here. I hope you enjoy it. I know I have.
