REAP WHAT YOU SOW BY CHARLIE SMITH
Despite being from what appears to be a region full of quaint little villages, Charlie is full of an angst only Robbie Valentino from Gravity Falls could harbour (using the British spelling accordingly).
If I could guess the songwriting process of “Reap What You Sow,” Charlie's newest single, it would be watching The Batman (or at least the trailer) a billion times and then go straight into the studio, wishing to create a grunge/hard rock song but realizing he only had an acoustic guitar on hand.
I can picture Charlie emulating his best Rob Pattinson Batman impression—eyeliner smeared— staring out the window on a rainy day peering west in my general direction, scowling with approval of this accurate description.
Despite the jokes, “Reap What You Sow” is simply and delightfully acoustic grunge. It sounds like if the band Chevelle were acoustic and emerged a decade before they were relevant. “The Red” by Chevelle mixed with “Something In The Way” by Nirvana. Check it below.
