FRESH FINDS
I hesitate to bring up Rick and Morty due to its toxic fanbase and a very problematic creator and voice actor. You know the episode I’m talking about though. Something like that is the only situation I can think of that’d be comparable. Just know that we’re in good hands if a giant head floating in space decides that we’re part of an intergalactic song competition.
With the world now saved, however, we can move on. There’s something so incredibly ‘80s about this song that I love. The guitar that sounds like “Kiss” by Prince or “Living In America” by James Brown. And in the background, there’s this funky little bass line that keeps the song moving along that reminds me so much of Vulfpeck, a honor I do not bestow lightly. It's so funky that I can picture that Brazilian dude covering it, his fro bouncing to the rhythm. If you don't know who I'm talking about, you need to fix your social media algorithms. Besides the aforementioned blend of Vulfpeck and COIN, this song reminds me of a toned-down version of local legends future.exboyfriend, especially on the verses. I can imagine Tyler Harris singing these same vocals with his sweet falsetto.
