There are two theories as to why Beeson named their band as such. One is that they named their band in part for their love of Bee Movie, the hit comedy starring Jerry Seinfeld. In fact, the love for this movie came because it was the lead singer’s first childhood crush. The other theory is that they named the band Beeson because it’s front woman, Jane Beeson’s last name. Who’s to really know, but I believe it’s the former. No frontman or woman would ever be so narcissistic as to name their entire band after themselves. It’s never been done before and probably never will be.
I have never seen Bee Movie, but I’ve heard the legendary tales. Beeson embodies the name from which it originated in every single way. It’s bold, it’s daring, and it’ll give you all sorts of confusing feelings for bee(son)s.
Beeson currently only have one song out, “Syrup.” I thought that “Honey” would have been more appropriate or at the very least “pollen” or “nectar,” but I am not the one calling the shots. Especially with a line like “now we just sit in sticky sweet silence.” Like, come on! Maybe they’ll take the hint when they read this (assuming they ever do).
It’s hip, it’s fresh, and it generates enough buzz off one listen that you’ll be wishing for more.
And you’re in luck because more is coming! Now while “Syrup” is good, I had the pleasure of hearing a sneak peek of their new song, “Pink Light” recently which is slated to be released later this summer, and my oh my is it a banger. One might even go as far as to say it’s the bees’ knees, the highest of compliments one can bestow upon a bee.
Beeson has potential to be the queen bee of the Provo music scene, and I was going to include one last bee pun or Bee Movie reference, but I figured you’ve had enough.
Follow them, stream them, and be on the look out for “Pink Light,” their song about the influence the pink power ranger had on their life (they're not the only ones, amirite?), out sometime this summer.
