That's what the music video of "Lifeboats" by Eleanor Collides would be if made anytime between 1996 and 2007. The most hilarious part of all of this is that I wrote this before the song came out today. I threw it on one more time before I posted this, and sure enough, the video shown on Spotify while this song plays is in black and white, there is a short glimpse of a downtown area, a train, and a bustling crowd that's blurred out. I was pretty damn close.
This song is moody British alternative rock in all its glory. Strong bass under acoustic strumming and ethereal synths. When the electric riff comes in, I feel like I’m about to sit down to play PS2 with the boys.
You will most likely find this song in a mid-00s action movie when the protagonist has an existential crisis. I don’t know how Eleanor Collides managed to time travel, but I guarantee it’s out there if you look for it.
You will either like it or you won’t, and either is okay.
