GOT ME LIKE

Two Things That Lead to a Third. And a Fourth:

​One. When someone says lofi I immediately think of 8-bit. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but my brain always makes that association. I know there are some legitimate comparisons there, but I am too ill-informed to make those. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I thrive on not knowing what I’m talking about.

Two. When I was in a band, our drummer made a lot of the graphics for our Instagram, concert promotion, etc. One day, he made 8-bit versions of each member of the band. They were pretty cool (see below). Now look at the one of Marshall, the lead singer, aka the one holding the microphone (far left). See how it’s at an angle? Well, in the first draft, the microphone was perpendicular to his body around waste level, giving the impression of a penis.

Three. When I listen to this song, I think of sexy time in this lofi, 8-bit universe. Bow chicka wow wow on the NES. Or you’re playing Pokémon Blue on the original Game Boy  and a wild T-Pain appeared and used the attack Auto-Tune.

​Four. There’s a version of this song (maybe a future remix) which is not a romantic love song but in fact a song about a sibling’s love for the other where the chorus goes, ‘Got me like ew, David!’ It’d be right up there with the “Trouble” remix where they insert the screaming goat. Just some food for thought.
