This song is like if the lead singer for R.E.M., Michael Stipe, sang a song by The Shins or The War On Drugs. Another acceptable answer would be if The Decemberists had made a rock album in a similar fashion to Mumford & Sons' third album, but the former seems to fit better.
Whether any of these comparisons were influences is a moot point now. Regardless, Kimball Frank has produced a fantastic rock song that will simultaneously take you back to the past, creating that addictive feeling we call nostalgia, without making it the song's defining characteristic. Unlike many artists who lean too heavily into the nostalgia, effectively derailing the entire song, Kimball Frank keeps the train on the tracks.
