FRESH FINDS
The band’s social media presence hammers home a similar sentiment—of living life to its fullest and not going quietly into the night by constantly going on adventures. And most of their music is the perfect companion to these adventures, a surf rock with enough power to energize the decrepit old bunny writing this review.
But much like when Tarzan found Jane and Peter found Wendy, it appears that the moss have found love. Their latest single, "Blink," shows a new side of the band I haven’t heard before. They still sound very much like the same band, but slowed down by a magnitude of ten and a little more tenderness in Tyke's vocals. It's rare for a band to pull off something like this without sacrificing their signature sound. One of the things I love about this song is that there is at times a certain twang to the guitar tone that reminds me of a ‘90s country song, but even though I dream about the influence that '90s country had on music, the closer comparison would more likely be Creedence Clearwater Revival.* If you like the moss, you’ll love "Blink." If you don’t like the moss (or have never heard of the the moss), you’ll probably still like the song, forced to begrudgingly like it despite your feelings of animosity towards them.
