AND THE AWARD GOES TO... DRUSKY

This ​is the energy and attitude Mia Hicken, frontwoman of Provo-based band Drusky, brings to every song on their latest EP, In Transit.

Drusky (abbreviation for "drunk husky," I think) released their second EP earlier this month, and it did not disappoint. Mia, I don’t know who (or whomst) hurt you, but if I ever find out I am going to hunt them down like Liam Neeson and kick them in the balls.

If you don’t know what it’s like to date in Utah and/or Mormon culture, my god, you are a lucky bastard, But if you don't, just listen to Drusky, and you will understand it perfectly, to the extent that you could write your entire doctoral dissertation on the subject. Like if Jo March or Elizabeth Bennet (True or False: I am watching Pride and Prejudice as I write this) listened to Drusky, they’d be like, "Hell yeah, fuck the patriarchy."

I can't quite pinpoint it exactly, but the insult in "Holy Ghosting" of "Don’t try to say you’re way too old when actually you’re just sad" is incredibly brutal. The number of creative ways Drusky is able to say "go fuck yourself" and have them burn longer and deeper than actually saying the phrase is beyond impressive. It deserves an award.

So I’m going to give one to you. The award for Best Burn in MOM’s first annual MOM Awards goes to Drusky.
