This post was inspired by all of the Lorde hate leading up to and upon the release of Solar Power. 

​I chose an edited version of her album cover because as Ed has pointed out in the group chat, “So much of Lorde’s bare ass this summer. Not good or bad. Callin how I see it it’s a high quantity of ass. And again not bad. But sometimes I feel like I can’t get away from Lorde’s ass this summer. Again not a bad thing. Not bad. Not. A. Bad. Thing.”

​We get it, Ed. Copious amount of Lorde’s ass. No drought of Lorde’s ass this summer. But not a bad thing. This still shows a little ass though. 

I understand that bedroom pop is supposed to be intrinsically DIY given the name and it’s origins, but much like indie music was originally used to describe an independent artist (and now describes I don’t really even know, a vibe?—if you really want to get confused just check out an indie playlist on Spotify—in what sense of the word is Billie Eilish indie?), bedroom pop has evolved to describe a certain sound.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. I initially started writing down my thoughts that would later become this post several months ago. A post on Instagram highlighting Velours fifteenth anniversary made me think about Velour and it’s importance to all those who make up the unique music scene that is Utah, and more specifically, Provo.
