TOp ten Lists

Everyone loves a good list. My friends have a tradition where every year we share our top ten albums of the year on a big email chain. It's become one of my favorite traditions, to the point where I am giddy with anticipation months in advance. It's a big reason why I started this blog.

This page is for those top ten lists, as well as any other top ten list we can think up. The takes can get pretty damn spicy, so get ready. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
DISCLAIMER: All lists are subjective, but if you disagree with us, you have two options: You can either 1) fight us to the death in trial by combat to decide who is right, or 2) admit you're wrong because deep down you know it's true.

SANTA TELL ME IS THE RARE OCCURRENCE WHERE THE SEQUEL IS BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL

The Two Towers. Empire Strikes Back. The Godfather II. The Dark Knight. Terminator 2. Captain America: Winter Soldier. Paddington 2. And “Santa Tell Me.” Occasionally, the sequel is better than the original.
Now, I’m sure you’re like, Seth, what the hell are you talking about? Sequels? This is music. Do you mean covers? But I meant what I said and I said what I meant. The only song that could be the predecessor to Ariana Grande’s smash Christmas single, “Santa Tell Me,” is  “Last Christmas” by Wham! (If you didn’t yell Wham! then you’re doing it wrong) Okay, fine. It’s a terrible analogy. It’s actually more like if the all female cast Ghostbusters ended up being the best movie ever (since the original actually is the best movie ever).

If you can’t see how these two are the same or at least related, then I don’t know if I can help you. Regardless, “Santa Tell Me” is a banger. It is hands down the best original Christmas song since Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Like Lebron James “silencer” hands down best. And #2 all-time only behind the Queen of Christmas herself. “Last Christmas” is #3. Kelly Clarkson’s  “Underneath the Tree” at #4, and I’m going to throw a curve ball and say that Coldplay’s “Christmas Lights” beats “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber for the #5 spot. GTFO Paul McCartney. And more importantly, even though it’s considered a “classic,” all versions of “Santa Baby” should be destroyed.

Final standings of Best Original Christmas Songs:
1. All I Want for Christmas Is You
2. Santa Tell Me
3. Last Christmas
4. Underneath the Tree
5. Christmas Lights
…
Somewhere between 10. and 25. Mistletoe
…
In the farthest depths of hell and then some. Wonderful Christmastime
